Then back to the hoard he would dart before daybreak, Then the dragon would go back to his hoard before daybreak,

It threw the hero into deep anguish and darkened his mood: This made the hero fall in to deep anger and darkened his atmosphere,
The wise man thought he must have thwarted ancient ordinance of the eternal Lord,
Beowulf though that he has displeased God,
Broke His commandment.
Broken his rules.
His mind was in turmoil,
His mind was going haywire,
Unaccustomed anxiety and gloom confused his brain;
Anxiety and gloom which was new to him came to him;
The Fire-dragon had rased the coastal region and reduced forts and earthworks to dust and ashes,
The dragon had razed the coastal region and reduced forts and trenches to dust and ashes,
So the war-king planned and plotted his revenge.
So Beowulf planned and plotted his revenge.
The warriors’ protector, prince of the hall-troop,
The leader of the warriors, and king of the throne.
Ordered a marvelous all-iron shied from his smithy works.
The king called for a shied made of iron to be made from his blacksmiths.
He well knew that linden boards would let him down and timber burn.
He knew that the wooden boards would burn and give away.
After many trials, he was destined to face the end of his days in this mortal world;
After various trials, Beowulf was destined to face his death;
As was the dragon, for all his long leasehold on the treasure.
That was also for dragon, although it had lived long.
Yet the prince of the rings was too proud to line up with a large army against the sky-plague.
However, Beowulf was too proud to summon an army against the dragon.
He had scant regard for the dragon as a threat,
He didn't really care for the dragon,
No dread at all of its courage or strength,
He didn't fear the dragon's courage or strength,
For he had kept going often in the past, through perils and ordeals of every sort,
Since Beowulf had often met such dangers in teh past,
After he had purged Hrothgar’s hall,
After Beowulf cleansed Hrothgar's hall of the demon,
Triumphed in Heorot and beaten Grendel.

He out-grappled the monster and his evil kin.
He conquered the monster and it's family.
